SAP S/4HANA Migration for Higher Performance and Real-Time Analytics

ERGO Versicherung AG, based in Vienna, is a leading insurance provider in Austria with around 600 employees.
To modernize its IT infrastructure, ERGO partnered with CONVOTIS to migrate its SAP ERP 6.0 EHP8 system from Windows/MSSQL to SAP S/4HANA. The project also included the conversion of the existing SAP BW landscape to HANA, aiming for enhanced performance and real-time reporting capabilities.
Status quo
Before the migration, ERGO operated on a stable SAP ERP system running on Windows/MSSQL.
However, the platform could no longer meet growing demands for performance, scalability, and real-time analytics. Increasing data volumes and process complexity required a shift to a future-ready SAP HANA infrastructure to support modern insurance operations.
The challenge
The objective was to migrate both SAP ERP and SAP BW systems to SAP HANA without disrupting ongoing operations.
Due to the complexity of the transformation, ERGO needed expert support in OS/DB migration, infrastructure readiness, and SAP Best Practice implementation. System availability, data integrity, and performance had to be maintained throughout the project.
The solution
CONVOTIS managed the OS/DB migration and implemented SAP HANA infrastructure recommendations.
Working closely with ERGO’s SAP Basis team, CONVOTIS supported the system conversion for both SAP ERP and SAP BW. Technical expertise and operational capacity were provided to ensure a structured, timely migration with full business continuity.
The result
The migration to SAP S/4HANA and BW on HANA was completed on schedule.
ERGO now benefits from a high-performance SAP landscape with measurable improvements: initial data loading times were reduced by 50%, delta loads by 30%. The new architecture supports modern analytics and provides a scalable platform for future growth.
