MENNEKES Elektrotechnik GmbH & Co. KG is an internationally active manufacturer of industrial plugs and sockets, charging solutions for electromobility and components for the automotive industry.
As a traditional family business with over 80 years of experience, MENNEKES combines technological innovation with the continuous development of internal processes. Digitalisation is being consistently driven forward throughout the Group – including in the IT infrastructure.
Status quo
The company had already been using the OpenText ArchiveCenter for years for audit-proof archiving of business-critical documents.
The archiving solution was directly integrated with the SAP system via an ArchiveLink interface and met key compliance and performance requirements. Due to technological developments and growing data volumes, MENNEKES decided on a comprehensive system modernisation – including new server architecture, database technology and operating systems.
The challenge
An inplace upgrade of the previous archive server was out of the question due to technological limitations.
Instead, a completely new infrastructure was to be set up and the existing archive solution transferred to a new system – including the migration of around 9 million documents to three content repositories. The requirements included maximum data security, minimum downtime and complete integrity of all content. In addition, the entire project had to be planned and implemented remotely.
The solution
CONVOTIS realised the upgrade in a structured project process: After creating a detailed migration concept, new virtual servers were set up with the latest OpenText software, a modern operating system and an updated database environment.
The transfer of content was fully automated. All archived documents were verified and seamlessly integrated into the new system. At the same time, CONVOTIS updated the connected scan clients and optimised the system environment for future use.
The result
The upgrade was successfully completed in less than three months.
The new archive platform offers higher processing speed, improved access options and increased system security. All existing archive data is available unchanged – without loss, media disruption or functional restrictions. The modernised solution enables future-proof archiving in conjunction with SAP and reduces administrative effort and maintenance costs in the long term.
