eOperations Schweiz is the leading provider of digital government services in Switzerland. The organization supports the federal government, cantons, and municipalities in designing and delivering modern e-government solutions.
Since 2017, eOperations has been enabling residents to complete change-of-address notifications entirely online with the eUmzugCH platform – without paper forms, without waiting times, and independent of office hours.
What started as a pilot project in the canton of Zurich has evolved into a nationwide solution that benefits both residents and public administrations. More than 20 cantons are already using the platform, with the remaining ones currently in the implementation phase.
Status quo
Within just a few years, eUmzugCH has become one of Switzerland’s most important e-government platforms.
Every day, more than 450 change-of-address notifications are processed online – with significantly higher numbers on peak days. As more cantons and municipalities join the platform, the demands on availability, performance, and information security continue to grow.
At the same time, the operation of the platform must comply with strict data protection regulations, as it processes highly sensitive personal data from residents.
The challenge
In 2023, the hosting of the platform had to be retendered in accordance with legal requirements.
The key was to find a partner that not only guarantees maximum operational reliability and availability, but also meets the highest standards in data protection, information security, and scalability.
At the same time, the platform needed to be technically capable of supporting further growth – both by onboarding additional cantons and handling increasing user volumes without limitations.
The solution
CONVOTIS ensures the stable, highly available, and secure operation of eUmzugCH.
The platform runs on a geo-redundant infrastructure specifically designed to meet the requirements of e-government services. This hosting is complemented by a comprehensive security framework that includes a Web Application Firewall (WAF), managed firewalls, DDoS mitigation, encrypted remote access with two-factor authentication, and regular vulnerability scans.
Thanks to proactive capacity planning, the platform is designed from the outset to handle future growth at any time – without compromising performance or availability.

Today, eUmzugCH is one of Switzerland’s key digital government services.
The platform runs with stability and reliability while meeting all requirements for availability, scalability, and data protection. Residents benefit from a fully digital service, while public administrations experience significant workload relief. With the successful hosting tender in 2023, eUmzugCH is now technically secured for the long term – ready to onboard additional cantons and support continuously growing usage.
